Lake George has an excellent population of a wide variety of fish. It covers over 446 acres and has 5.5 miles of shoreline with a maximum depth of 26 feet. Featured species are musky, northern pike, walleye, bass, crappie, perch and bluegill. Lake maps marked with several good fishing spots are available at no charge. A fourteen foot aluminum boat is furnished with each cottage and outboard motors can be rented. If you have your own boat we have 7 new piers so there is plenty of docking space. If you would like to fish with a guide, that service is available on site. There is also a fish cleaning building with running water and lights.
Our beach has a gradual sloping sand bottom that is safe for children of all ages. If you want a tan, lay out on our beach or on the large main dock. Available for rental we have Mercury 8 HP outboard motors and a 20 foot pontoon boat. There are marinas in the area with jet ski and ski boat rentals. Paddleboats, kayaks and a canoe are all available free of charge.
Our bar and recreation building offers a beautiful view of Lake George and features pool, ping pong, pinball, darts, video games and a juke box. It has a fully stocked bar and we serve pizza and sandwiches. This is an ideal place for our guests to get together for the evening. At Brekke's you will find activities providing something for everyone. We have a tennis court, shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball, badminton, volleyball, tetherball, park size swings and playground equipment. For the evenings we have a lakeside fire pit (wood is furnished) and we are just minutes away from golf courses, horseback riding, mini golf, go-karts, hiking and biking trails, theaters, museums, casinos, shopping and many fine restaurants.
Don't forget about Spring and Fall at Brekke's. Some of the best fishing can be found then and the lake will be quieter. In Fall the changing colors provide breathtaking scenery. Some things going on in the Northwoods at this time include the Harley Davidson Fall Ride, Cranberryfest and Octoberfest. This is the time for the fisherman, photographer, hunter or nature lover to visit Brekke's Fireside Resort. We allow pets but they must be housebroken, cleaned up after and not allowed to run loose. They also must have their own feeding dishes.
